Multiple People Shot at Howe Park Sacramento - Unsanctioned Gathering Descends into Chaos





On the evening of Saturday April 18, a large unauthorized party of hundreds of people at the Howe Park area in Sacramento County's Arden-Arcade neighborhood became the scene of a shooting when an estimated 20 to 25 gunshots filled the air as law enforcement officers were working to clearing the area.

A Timeline of Events

At approximately 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County Sheriff got reports about individuals possibly carrying concealed weapons at the Arden-Arcade park. A follow-up call described a potential fight and individuals running from the park.

A sheriff's helicopter was called in and surveyed the area from above but failed to identify any ongoing altercation.

Even so, hundreds of individuals had collected at the park for what authorities described as an unauthorized event. Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies set up around the park, switched on their vehicle lights, and dedicated around 15 minutes commanding the crowd to clear out over their vehicle speakers.

While deputies were dispersing the crowd, between 20 and 25 shots filled the night air — triggering a panicked crowd in every direction.

The Victims

Four individuals — a woman and three men, all young adults in their 20s — were rushed to local hospitals. Two sustained immediate injuries, one suffered moderate injuries, and one had minor injuries. All four were listed as stable. The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department responded and assisted with triage on scene.

What Was Found at the Scene
